Tyldesley is an easy run for us, about six miles up from Golborne and sat right between Leigh, Atherton and Astley. We are over in M29 most weeks, so we do not add a travel charge and rarely make you wait long for a slot. It is a proper hilltop town, and once you know the steep streets and where you can pull in, getting set up is no bother.

The housing changes as you go through the town. Down near the centre and up Elliott Street there are the old cotton terraces, tight streets where cars live at the kerb, and it is much the same around Shakerley and the old colliery village at Gin Pit. Head out to Mosley Common and Higher Green and it turns to newer semis and estates with proper drives. We turn up self contained with water and power on board, so a cramped terrace or a steep drive both suit us fine.

Being up on the hill, the cars here take the weather full on, wind driven rain off the tops and salt on the roads all winter, and it shows on the paint and around the seals. Some people book us in every few weeks for a valet to stay ahead of it, others want a full detail to bring back a car that has been sat neglected.
