Wax & Paint Protection in Golborne & Leigh

Decontaminated, tar free paint finished with a hand applied wax for deep gloss and months of protection. Done at your address across Golborne and Leigh.

If you want the car to look its best and stay protected for longer than a normal wash allows, this is the job. It sits between a standard exterior valet and a full ceramic coating: proper preparation, then a quality wax applied by hand for a finish you can see and feel.

Preparation is where the result comes from. We wash the car safely, then run a liquid decontamination to pull out the tiny metal and industrial fallout particles that make paint feel rough, and remove tar spots and any glue or adhesive residue. Only once the paint is truly clean and smooth do we start protecting it, because a wax over dirty paint just seals the dirt in.

The wax is applied by hand and buffed to a deep, warm gloss that sealants alone struggle to match, especially on darker colours. It protects the paint for three to six months, helps water bead and run off, and makes the car much easier to keep clean between visits. It is a lovely job on a car you are proud of.

How it works

Safe wash

A full pre-wash and safe two bucket contact wash so the paint is clean before any decontamination begins.

Decontaminate

A liquid decontamination pulls out embedded fallout, then tar spots and any glue residue are removed by hand.

Prep the surface

The paint is clayed and wiped down so it is perfectly smooth and ready to take the wax evenly.

Wax and buff

A quality wax is applied by hand, left to bond, then buffed to a deep gloss and checked over in good light.

Common questions

What is the difference between wax and a ceramic coating?
A hand applied wax gives a beautiful deep gloss and three to six months of protection, and it is a lovely job at a sensible price. A ceramic coating is a longer lasting, harder wearing protection measured in years rather than months, but it costs more and needs more preparation. We offer both and will tell you which suits your car and budget.
Why does the paint need decontaminating first?
Over time tiny metal particles, tar and industrial fallout bond to the paint and make it feel rough even after washing. Waxing over that just seals the dirt in. Decontaminating and claying first means the wax bonds to clean, smooth paint, so it looks better and lasts longer.
How long does the wax protection last?
Three to six months depending on how often the car is driven, parked outside and washed. A quick top up wash keeps it going, and when it starts to wear off the water stops beading, which is your sign it is due again.
Is this better on darker cars?
Wax gives a warm, deep gloss that really shows on black, dark blue and grey paint. Lighter colours benefit too, mostly from the protection and easier cleaning, but the visual jump is biggest on darker cars.
Can you wax a car with swirl marks?
Yes. Wax will not take swirl marks out, it protects the paint and brings out the gloss of the finish that is already there, so light swirls look less obvious for a while but are still underneath. Machining those marks out is a separate paint correction job that we do not offer, and we will always be straight with you about that rather than overselling a wax.
