Detailing is the step past a valet, a deep clean and decontamination that brings out the gloss the paint already has rather than just rinsing the surface. Plenty of Wigan motors, especially the older ones sat outside on the terraced streets, look flat and tired from years of quick washes. Can you bring the colour back on an older Wigan car?
More often than not, yes. A lot of what makes older paint look flat and tired is bonded grime sitting on top of it, and a proper decontamination and clay treatment lifts that off so the colour reads deep again. We do not machine polish or correct the paint, so we will not promise to cut swirls out, but the clean and the seal alone bring a real lift. We look it over in daylight first and tell you honestly how far it will go.
Do I have to be around while you detail the car?
Only at the start and the end. The car stays on your drive or parking spot in Wigan while we work through it, so you can get on with your day. We will give you a knock when it is nearly done so you can walk round it with us in good light before we finish up.
What is the difference between valeting and detailing?
A valet is a thorough clean inside and out. A detail goes further: it decontaminates the paint so it is properly smooth, treats the trim and glass to a higher standard, and finishes with long lasting protection. Detailing costs more because it takes far longer and leaves the car cleaner, smoother and better protected than a wash can.
Do you machine polish or correct the paint?
We are a valeting and detailing service, so our focus is deep cleaning, decontamination and protection rather than machine paint correction. If your paint is heavily swirled and you want the marks machined out, that is a specialist paint correction job and we will point you in the right direction. What we do is get the paint properly clean, smooth and protected so it looks its best.
How long does a full detail take?
A proper detail is a half day to a full day depending on the size and condition of the car. We would rather book the right amount of time and do it once than rush it.
